Keep reading for tips on faceless marketing and how to build a faceless brand (the right way).
Chances are if you’re on Instagram for your business then you’ve seen the countless faceless accounts that have popped up. Current faceless marketing trends have people going 100% faceless, pretty much anonymous. Which may work for some brands, but it’s not an approach we recommend for everyone.
What is Faceless Marketing?
Despite its current popularity, faceless marketing has actually been around for a long time. Essentially, think of it as the opposite of building a personal or influencer brand. It’s a brand that’s built without a person being front and center.
Faceless marketing is an approach that lets you maintain an active online presence without appearing in every piece of content you produce. Perfect for busy entrepreneurs and business owners -it’s a time-saving way to grow your brand.
Where Do You Access Faceless Marketing Assets?
Stock assets like the photos & videos in the Haute Stock library! These are so helpful for entrepreneurs because you have curated, aesthetic imagery at your fingertips. This allows you to create and batch out a lot of the content that is required for your marketing.
What About Authenticity & Trust in Faceless Marketing?
One of the keys of your business is building a connection with potential buyers that is authentic and trustworthy. Creating that bond is hard when clients feel like they’re interacting with an unknown person.
That’s why we think it all comes down to balance.
That means designing a brand that is unique by pairing both faceless stock assets with your own brand images. There are places where it is more beneficial to do one over the other.
Let’s take a look at the best and worst places to use your stock visuals for faceless marketing versus your own brand images!
The BEST Ways to Use Faceless Content for Building your Brand
- The Backgrounds of Your Reels: You can use aesthetic stock videos to create Instagram Reels in minutes. Instead of spending a ton of time filming your own content, with Haute Stock you have a bank of high-quality stock videos at your fingertips. That means you can post consistently to grow your brand and make more sales.
Simply use the stock video as your background and overlay it with your hot tips or takes!
2. Instagram Stories: Similarly to Reels, your stories are a great place to post faceless videos or images as backgrounds. This allows you to focus less on filming your own content so you can focus on your messaging and engagement!
3. IG Feed (Carousels): We especially love using stock images for our carousel posts! Carousels require 2-10 slides, which is a lot of images/videos that you have to create for yourself. With stock assets you can quickly grab all the images or videos you need to create a cohesive on-brand look. It’s even easier if you use templates from Haute Stock and customize with your own brand colors and aesthetic.
4. Reels Covers: The easiest way to create an on-brand feed is to use Reels covers! It’s a great way to stay cohesive with your aesthetics by incorporating your colors, fonts and overall vibe in the cover image. The Reels cover is what people see first, so make sure this is on-brand. Then, you can experiment with different formats of videos, videos shot in different locations, etc. without compromising your IG aesthetic. You won’t have to worry about whether or not it’s completely on brand because your cover takes care of that for you!
5. Website Headers: We love incorporating faceless stock images or videos into the headers of websites. It’s the first thing people notice when they land on your website so you want it to be high-quality and engaging. In the examples below, you can see how Roop Creative and The Haute Stock website have incorporated video and images into their headers. This creates movement and immediately draws you in. The pairing of an image with a video on Roop Creative’s header really shows her creative branding while complimenting her colors well. The best part is she didn’t need to shoot any of her own content here to make an elevated webpage!
6. Email Marketing & Newsletters: Another place that requires nurturing with a lot of content is your email marketing and newsletters. Pair your content with on-brand graphics aired with on-brand graphics to take your emails to the next level. Using stock assets and templates like the Haute stock ones below, helps you engage your audience and establish credibility with polished graphics that complement your expert content.
And guess what! You saved time creating the graphics with stock assets so you have more time to spend on writing your valuable content.
7. Course Workbooks & E-books:
We know you spend a ton of time working on the information that you provide inside your workbooks, so why not make that content aesthetically appealing?! With stock images, you can create workbooks that fit your brand. And you can save time sourcing all the images because you have curated assets that make it easy to make a cohesive look.
The Haute Stock templates featured below were all created with stock assets from the library.
The WORST Ways to Use Faceless Content
- About Me Page On Your Website & Your Intro Slide In Presentations: These two places are really powerful spots to introduce yourself, tell your brand story and build that know/like/trust factor with your audience. Putting a face behind the brand, even if it’s not in the majority of your content, allows people to connect with you on a more personal level and feel secure that they’re buying from a real person – so this the perfect place for you to incorporate your brand photos. When you’re doing faceless marketing it’s so important to build in authenticity and trust to build your faceless brand.
2. Your Instagram Profile Picture: Using your own photo on your IG profile helps you stand out in a sea of accounts, creates a personable feeling to your brand, and allows for easier brand recognition. Resist the temptation to change your profile picture too often – it should remain consistent so that people instantly recognize your posts when they’re scrolling!
3. BTS or Unique Business Processes: This content features topics that are special and unique to your business (come with me as I pack a customer’s order, come with me as I design a client’s brand board etc.), and not content that can really be replaced with stock visuals. You’re giving your customers a glimpse behind-the-scenes of their favorite small business. They want to see real, personal content otherwise it’s not going to be authentic. These could be faceless but the point here is that you want to film the content yourself.
The good news is, you can use stock content for 90% of your other posts, so you really have very few pieces of content that you need to film yourself!
